Giclee Prints Available The term “giclee print” indicates an elevated level of print technology that provides better color accuracy than more common color ink printers. The prints are typically created using 8-12 color ink-jet printers. One advantage to this is the quality and durability of the production. The other is that the artist can print the picture in many different sizes from the original digital file. I print with Archival Ink, using an Epson 3800 9 color ink jet printer and high quality acid free Fine Art Paper. Each image can be printed in any desired size. Click image for sizes and pricing. Artistic ProcessThe first real trip I took was to Laos in 1965. Prior to that time, I had not gone further than New York City and Montreal from my hometown of Schenectady, New York. While in college, I decided to join International Voluntary Services (IVS), a pre-cursor to the Peace Corps. IVS sent volunteers to Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia in the 1960’s. Our charge was to help the indigenous populations to improve their standard of living. We helped them build roads, schools, and dispensaries and to grow more than one crop of rice per year. Needless to say, it was an experience that has lasted a lifetime and has influenced every part of my life. While located in Laos, I was able to travel to several neighboring countries as well as European countries en transit to and from Laos. Well, the travel bug bit and has stayed with me ever since. One of my favorite trips was to Kenya and Rwanda in 1988, where we viewed the magnificent animals in their natural environments. In Rwanda, we hiked up the mountain to view the mountain gorillas. All of my photographs for thirty years of travel are either slides or prints. These will someday have to be converted to digital images. In 2006, I joined a ceramics class from SUNY Cortland for a three-week trip to China. At one point, we were within 10 miles of the Lao border, which was the first time in over 40 years that I had been back to that part of the world. The people were fascinating in the remote villages, living within and maintaining their traditional lifestyle and cultural identities. The images in this gallery have had minimal manipulation. They include photos from Yellowstone National Park, Sarasota’s Selby Garden, Boston, Salem, and Rockport, Massachusetts, Italy, and China. I have recently traveled to Egypt, with many available images of Temples and life on the Nile. |
